HRT (hormone replacement therapy)

1. For many intersex people, hormones may be prescribed to support healthy hormonal function or force the development of secondary sex characteristics aligned with the binary sex assigned at birth. For trans and nonbinary people, see “gender affirming hormone therapy.” 2. In permimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause, HRT can relieve symptoms such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness.
